How to Inflate the Harkla HugUpdated 2 months ago

The Harkla Hug is an incredible sensory tool designed to provide calming, deep pressure therapy for children. Inflating the Hug properly is essential to ensure its effectiveness and longevity. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you set it up quickly and easily.

Step 1: Gather Your Tools

Before you begin, you’ll need a high-output air pump. While any pump with the appropriate nozzle can work, we recommend an electric air pump for faster inflation.

Step 2: Locate the Inflation Valves

The Harkla Hug comes equipped with three inflation valves. Ensure the valves are accessible and not obstructed. Gently open each valve by unscrewing the cap or pulling it out, depending on the model.

Step 3: Inflate the Harkla Hug

The valves have two openings: one larger two-way opening & one smaller one-way ‘top off’ opening. Starting with the inside bottom, place the correct attachment of the electric pump into the larger two-way opening and turn on the electric pump to inflate. When the majority of the section is inflated, quickly remove the electric pump from the large two-way opening of the valve and close it tightly with the plug.

Step 4: Check for Comfort and Adjust

After inflating, press down gently on the Hug to check its firmness.

Top off the air in the newly inflated section with the same attachment of the electric pump by using the top smaller one-way ‘top-off’ opening.

Note: The electric pump piece will not fit inside the smaller opening, rather lay flat on top..

Step 5: Seal and Store the Pump

Ensure the valve caps are securely tightened to prevent leaks. Store your pump in a convenient location for future use.
